Dirk Brenner Bio 2024

Dirk Brenner studied at the Universities of Bonn and Witten/Herdecke in Germany, and received further training at Stanford University and Harvard University. He completed his PhD with Dr. Peter H. Krammer at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany. As an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, he pursued his postdoctoral training under Dr. Tak W. Mak in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Brenner has since established his own laboratory in Luxembourg, where he serves as the Deputy Director of the Department of Infection and Immunity at the Luxembourg Institute of Health, and is Full Professor of Immunology and Genetics at the University of Luxembourg. His research is dedicated to understanding the metabolic regulation of the immune system, particularly in the context of inflammation and cancer. He has made significant contributions to our understanding of the role of redox control and reactive oxygen species, investigating how these factors influence metabolism, immune cell function and contribute to disease processes.
